2021 Cuyuna Mt Bike -or- Paul Bunyan Trail Minnesota

Let’s SHRED THE RED… ROTR style!! Located in the heart of Minnesota is the Cuyuna Lakes. Cuyuna is ranked among the best mountain biking destinations in the U.S., and one of the top places to visit in the world. There are 40+ miles of red gold dirt trails that twist their way around the lakes near the town of Crosby and through the Northwoods of Minnesota. There are dozens of multi purpose-built trails to choose from. There are trails ranked for beginners to pro levels trails, all which are clearly marked and ranked. No matter your skill level you will enjoy the breath-taking trails and overlooks of the GREAT UP NORTH WOODS of Minnesota.

The trails are enhanced by the deep-red soil that will turn you bike and tires red. The trails circle the old iron mine lakes which are super deep and give off a beautiful turquoise glimmer. The trails wind through the thick woods of white bark aspens trees which are typical of the deep Minnesota woods and when taking a break from the exhilarating descents, bikers can watch for bald eagles, red-tailed hawks, beavers, bears, wolves and other wildlife.

The Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Trails have become one of the most popular places to ride in the USA…. YES, right here in MINNESOTA. BUT the bonus is that some of the best road bike trails that the Midwest has to offer are also located in this area. If you would rather ROAD ride it is short ride to the Paul Bunyan Trail. This is a recreational rail trail that spans between the cities of Brainerd and Bemidji. The trail is named after the giant lumberjack Paul Bunyan of American folklore. The trail has hundreds of miles of beautiful scenic trails that go through the deep woods and intersect with little towns of Northern Minnesota. If you have not ridden this trail you MUST do so some time in your life as it is FANTASTIC. (Note: we are going to plan a haul all your own gear 3 day trip on this trail this summer).

Both the Mt. Bike and Rod Bike trails are accessible right from our camp ground and we are just blocks from the restaurants, bars and breweries of down town Crosby!!! Bring an extra strap for your helmet because this trip is going to pack a SERIOUS punch of fun!!!

NOTE: we are capping the roster at 15 total. This is because of limited space on the bus, the amount of bikes and gear we can carry and the limitation of accommodations in the Crosby area (reservations need to be made a year or more in advance). If we fill up it doesn’t mean you can’t be part of the fun… it just means your transportation and accommodations will need to be on your own and we will meet and ride with you there.

Trip planning considerations: This is a non-supported trip. That means there will be no support crew for this trip. All meals will be on your own. TEAM ROTR will provide most of what you will need (see details below) but we will not provide support, space will be limited as we will need to fit everyone and everything on the bus and we hope everyone will lend a hand with setting up and taking down camp.
